Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Is a large US holding. Its headquarters are located in Omaha. The olding invests in and manages a large number of companies in different sectors. You can think of insurance companies, construction companies, different industries etc.
The CEO and chairman of Berkshire Hathaway is Warren Buffett. Along with his business partner Charlie Munger he owns a large part of the holding company. Warren Buffett himself, however, owns the majority of shares with about 38%. Sales amounted to $ 194.7 billion in 2014 and the corresponding profit in the same year was $ 19.8 billion. Berkshire Hathaway employs approximately 316,000 employees.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc. was founded in 1839 by Oliver Chace. The company was then a textile manufacturer. In 1927 a merger took place with the Berkshire Cotton Manufacturing Company. Then, in 1955, another merger with Hathaway Manufacturing Company. After this the current name “Berkshire Hathaway” was born. In 1962 Warren Buffett became interested in the holding company. Buffett quickly gained a great influence in the company. After a few years it was decided to expand and invest in Berkshire Hathaway.
